The Moorings is for those who desire a comfortable, quiet place along the coast. It offers completely renovated and private historic homes along the Maine coast. Each home offers room for expansion with separate law/au pair space.
The Gatehouse is the latest addition to the Moorings overlooking both the exposed rocky ledges and the harbor with its fleet of fishing boats. The dramatic site of the Gatehouse attracted an artist who spent a week painting our ledges commenting: "This setting is the most magnificent juxtaposition of natural 'rock-bound' terrain and 'man made' building". See the artist's watercolor and its realization in the following photographs: “View The Gatehouse From The Road”.
Walk around the Moorings. It is a 2-minute walk to REILLY'S STORE with fine meats, fish and produce, a full line of groceries, deli, newspapers, full liquors, excellent wines and beers, fresh bread and muffins, movie rentals. Hours: 8 AM to 6 PM every day. Then walk down the road to the Harbor and Back Cove. Later walk through the garden to the pool and hot tub.
An additional page added to the website consists of photographs taken throughout the 2009 Season. More Moorings Photos. This page includes some dramatic as well as subtle changes.
There is no place in the United States with more historicity than the Pemaquid
Region of Maine. At the Moorings are the following historically significant buildings:
Cottage Mansard - 1875
Colonial - 1874
Victorian - 1895
Bungalow - 1924
